ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY

Overview

This API & Data Feed Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) governs your use of any application programming interface (API) or XML data feed feature made available through the CareerPlug platform. It supplements — and is incorporated by reference into — your CareerPlug Terms of Service (“Agreement”), specifically Section 2(h). Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given in the Agreement.

By accessing or enabling any API or XML feed feature, you (“Customer”) agree to this AUP.

1. SCOPE

This AUP applies to:

  • CareerPlug’s API, as described in Section 2(h) of the Agreement
  • Any XML feed generated by CareerPlug on Customer’s behalf for the purpose of distributing job postings to external platforms
  • Any data integration built by Customer or a third party using CareerPlug-sourced content

2. PERMITTED USES

CareerPlug’s API and XML feed features are provided to support Customer’s own hiring activities. Permitted uses include:

  • Distributing job postings to general-purpose job boards and employment aggregators (e.g., Indeed, ZipRecruiter, and similar platforms)
  • Integrating job data with Customer’s own internal systems, career pages, or intranet tools
  • Connecting to third-party recruiting vendors or platforms that support Customer’s hiring operations, provided such use complies with this AUP
  • Enabling franchisor or parent-company visibility into Customer’s job postings, in a manner consistent with the Agreement

3. PROHIBITED USES

Customer may not use CareerPlug’s API or XML feed features to:

  • Feed a Competitive Platform. Transmit, direct, or otherwise deliver CareerPlug job data or platform content to any product, platform, or ecosystem operated by a company that competes directly with CareerPlug in the applicant tracking system (ATS), hiring software, or talent acquisition technology market (“Competitive Platform”). This prohibition applies regardless of whether Customer is aware that a third-party aggregator or integration partner routes data downstream to a Competitive Platform.
  • Enrich or train a competitor. Provide CareerPlug-sourced data to any third party for the purpose of benchmarking, training, improving, or otherwise benefiting a Competitive Platform’s products or services.
  • Resell or sublicense access. Transfer, resell, or sublicense API or XML feed access to any third party without CareerPlug’s prior written consent.
  • Build against CareerPlug. Use the API or feed data to develop a product or service that competes with CareerPlug, consistent with the restrictions in Section 6(b)(vi) of the Agreement.
  • Violate applicable law. Use CareerPlug data feeds in any manner that violates applicable federal, state, or local law, or the terms of the Agreement.

4. CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITY FOR DOWNSTREAM USE

Customer is solely responsible for understanding and ensuring compliance with this AUP with respect to how job data is used once transmitted through a CareerPlug API or XML feed — including any downstream handling by third-party aggregators, integration partners, or recruiting technology vendors.

If Customer uses a third-party vendor to receive or process CareerPlug data, Customer must ensure that vendor’s use complies with this AUP. The involvement of a third-party intermediary does not limit or transfer Customer’s responsibility under this AUP.

CareerPlug does not actively monitor the downstream destination of data transmitted via API or XML feed. However, CareerPlug reserves the right to investigate potential violations upon becoming aware of information suggesting non-compliance.

5. DISCLOSURE AND PRE-APPROVAL

If Customer is uncertain whether a specific integration, aggregator, or third-party platform is permitted under this AUP, Customer is encouraged to contact CareerPlug at [support/legal email] before configuring the feed. CareerPlug will make reasonable efforts to provide written guidance in a timely manner.

Pre-approval of a specific integration by CareerPlug does not constitute a waiver of this AUP with respect to future integrations or uses not described in the request.

6. PLAN ELIGIBILITY

XML feed access may not be available on all CareerPlug subscription plans. Availability is determined by Customer’s current plan tier. CareerPlug reserves the right to adjust plan-level access to API and XML feed features with reasonable prior notice to Customer.

7. CONSEQUENCES OF NON-COMPLIANCE

A violation of this AUP constitutes a material breach of the Agreement. Upon determining that a violation has occurred or is reasonably suspected, CareerPlug reserves the right to:

  • Suspend or immediately terminate Customer’s API or XML feed access
  • Require Customer to discontinue a specific integration as a condition of continued service
  • Pursue remedies available under the Agreement or applicable law

Where circumstances allow, CareerPlug will make reasonable efforts to notify Customer before taking action. CareerPlug reserves the right to act immediately where necessary to protect its legitimate business interests.

8. CHANGES TO THIS AUP

CareerPlug may update this AUP from time to time to reflect changes in its products, competitive landscape, or legal requirements. CareerPlug will provide reasonable advance notice of material changes via email or in-product notification. Continued use of API or XML feed features following notice of a change constitutes Customer’s acceptance of the updated AUP.
