CareerPlug’s Product Approach to AI

At CareerPlug, we embrace AI as a tool to support, not replace, human decision-making and relationships in hiring and retention.  AI can have immense impact, both positive and negative, and we care deeply about the impact to people and the planet (more below on that).  We believe AI should be used responsibly and ethically to empower humans to save time, and make faster or better decisions through additive means, without introducing bias into the process.  Using AI responsibly encompasses a number of factors – bias, fairness, safety, user experience, security, privacy, and environmental impact.

AI-assisted infrastructure should be designed with human oversight at its core. This includes transparent monitoring and assessment processes, subject to auditing. Furthermore, AI systems should provide clear explanations of their workflows and recommendations whenever possible, fostering trust and accountability. 

At CareerPlug, any AI or AI-tooling embedded within our product offering must align with our brand promise of being Easy, Experts, Partners.  Our AI-powered Job Description Builder is just the beginning. We are actively exploring AI through several areas of possibility related to our CoreFocus:  Empowering Teams to Grow by making it easier for Managers to Hire and Retain the RIGHT People.  

  • Can AI help our hiring managers attract the best applicants by using it to analyze hiring patterns and determining what sources may have the best chance of success?
    • We have “Smart Suggestions” today and it will get even smarter.  We’re considering what could happen if we give an AI agent information about individual jobs, where they are in their lifecycle, the stated need of the hiring manager (how many folks need to be hired and by when), and have the smart suggestion Agent give increasingly more effective counseling.  Talk about having an easy expert partner right in your moment of need. 
  • Can AI help our hiring managers better evaluate the right hire… not by making the evaluation decision, but by giving the AI assistant information about the unique needs of the position and the information we have about the candidate to assist the hiring manager on the right interview questions to ask next?  *Ideally, 80% of interview questions are consistent across candidates, but up to 20% could be customized and tailored to the specific candidate and the experience they bring, while still maintaining consistency. 
  • Can AI help managers of new hires onboard better by giving suggestions of activities that have worked well for others?
  • Can AI help our managers engage their employees by giving the managers questions they could ask their employees (if we give an AI assistance pulse or long-form employee engagement data)? 
  • Can AI help our managers identify disconnected or at-risk for attrition employees by studying their engagement patterns and analyzing the sentiments of their responses to Pulse questions?
  • Can AI help a Partner Admin analyze trends in the data and offer up questions the Partner Admin should ask themselves or their network members… in an effort to help the Partner Manager grow the network?

As we continue refining our product to eliminate unnecessary steps, enhance automation (such as improved group interview scheduling via Autopilot), and empower partners with advanced organizational tools, soon, our Self-Serve capabilities will revolutionize how business coaches and area managers support their teams, offering more autonomy while maintaining access to our expert partner services. 

At CareerPlug, we don’t just adopt AI – we consider its use very purposefully as we make hiring easier, smarter, and more effective for our customers and partners, keeping human interactions as a non-replaceable aspect of the relationship between an employer and prospective applicants and employees.

Lastly, we cannot claim to use AI responsibly and not acknowledge the known impact on the environment and planet, most notably the consumption of both energy and water to sustain and cool data centers that power AI technology.  

Until advancements can be made to more sustainably power and cool data centers, CareerPlug commits to financial investments to offset the environmental impact of AI.  As of 2025, this includes the following means:

  1. Increasing our contributions to WeForest, our Partner in reforestation efforts from 25,000 trees to 100,000 trees.
  2. Contributions to organizations supporting clean water sustainability
  3. Contributions to support green energy production
  4. Contributions to reduce carbon emissions ongoing by remaining a fully-remote workforce without an office that employees are expected to commute to daily.
